Beginner Troll Halloween Costume project

Step 1

To determine the ribbon length for the tutu, Add the waist measurement plus 36”. Cut one piece of ribbon the total length and lay flat on the work surface. Measure 18” from either end and mark using a pencil. Fold the ribbon in half to find the center. Measure from the waist to the desired length of the tutu, double this amount to determine cut lengths. Cut the tulle. Fold the tulle strip in half to make a loop. Place the loop in back of the ribbon. Pass the ends of the strip through the loop and pull tight. See illustration. Alternate colors to desired waist size.

Step 2

Secure ribbon to one end of the headband using craft glue. Begin wrapping at an angle covering the entire headband. Secure and trim end.

Step 3

To determine the tulle placement, place the headband on head and mark ½” above ears. Cut 24” lengths of the turquoise tulle. Fold the tulle strip in half to make a loop. Place the loop in back of the headband. Pass the ends of the strip through the loop and pull tight.

Step 4

Gather the tulle and tie a bow 2” from the outer edges.

Step 5

Attach buttons to the headpiece with contrasting thread.
